As a child I used to obsess over Ralph McQuarrie’s conceptual drawings of the Original Trilogy… the ships, the buildings… the droids. Seeing all of the new tidbits from leaked conceptual art and the official teaser trailers for Episode 7 has awakened (pun intended) the child within me once again. That being said, I am thoroughly impressed with BB-8. His space age yet utilitarian design, the innocence of his beeps and whistles voice and the inquisitiveness of his robotic gaze had me at hello. His little personality shines through so much that he actually managed to upstage the venerable R2-D2 at the much ballyhooed Star Wars Celebration. Ralph would be proud.
