Is The B-Wing More Exhilarating Than The X-Wing???
I was an eight year old in 1983. Even then, watching Return of the Jedi, I felt the B-Wing was the most under-used onscreen starfighter. I wanted to see more of it! Now, more than 30 years later, I get what I always wanted. In this scene from the massively popular animated series Star Wars: Rebels, rebel Captain Hera Syndulla tests the Mon Calamari-designed B-Wing prototype. Everything about this scene is amazing….
…the oddest-looking starfighter in the Rebel Alliance fleet… The pilot can orient it so that it always stays level with a horizon line. No matter which way the B-wing may maneuver laterally, its pilot remains upright.
It was Senator Bail Organa, rebel leader and foster father to Princess Leia, who, according to Wookiepedia…
…secured a shipyard to begin developing the B-wing design for mass production…to be used by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War.
I’m really happy one of my favorite ships is getting some time in the spotlight and can’t wait to see more of it.
