A New Type Of Trooper In Star Wars: Rogue One?

RUMOR: A Variant of the Galactic Empire’s Stormtrooper Might Make An Appearance…

***If you don’t like potential spoilers, please turn back now!

Production on the first standalone Star Wars movie Rogue One is well under way with director Gareth Edwards at the helm. Over the past few months there has been a lot of chatter about the stormtroopers which will appear in the film.

Of course, we’ll see the classic Stormtrooper as evidenced by this behind-the-scenes drone shot of Rogue One’s set

And a few months ago Rogue One actor Donnie yen famously tweeted, then removed, this picture of some Stormtrooper helmets that MIGHT be making an appearance in the film…

More in Star Wars news…

Well, word around the campfire the past couple of days is that the Galactic Empire’s Shadowtroopers will be dropping by to make the Rebels’ lives hell during Star Wars: Rogue One. If you haven’t been acquainted with this variant of the classic stormtrooper, here’s what they MIGHT look like…

One of my favorite Star Wars sites, Making Star Wars reports that their source said…

The black Stormtroopers with the silver eyepieces are in the movie.

And here’s an approximation of what they look like courtesy of PaulGreenPhotography.com

According to the Wookiepedia, the Shadow Troopers wear a black suit of armor equipped with a cloaking device and wield a T-21 light repeating blaster. Something is telling me that their aim might be a tad bit better than that of your typical white-armored Stormtrooper. Visit Making Star Wars for more on this story.  What do all of you think???
